Governance & Organization
- Serve as the primary leadership & governing body for all organizational and activity-related areas of the CCIR, including: development, execution, analysis, dissemination, marketing, advertising, billing and outreach.
- Define, propose and support all of the strategic, policy, operational and expansion plans (and changes to these plans) for the CCIR.
- Help guide, evaluate and implement technology-focused efforts of the CCIR.
- Work directly with and help mentor CCIR staff, as needed, to resolve major operational and technical issues/concerns raised by the facility users.
- Review CCIR’s progress periodically, including clients/utilization, policy/protocol/IRB adherence, and questionable operational/trial design requests.
- Review feedback, budget, equipment and resources as needed to evaluate and to act on recommendations of the Operational Team, Physician Director and Advisory Boards, and delegating authority to implement changes.
- Serve as the CCIR research review board to prioritize and optimize use of CCIR resources.
- Identify and invite additional members/consultants to serve on various CCIR committees when expertise is deemed necessary;
- Help promote, plan and provide final approval for CCIR seminar topics and speakers.
- Supervise and execute all daily activities within the CCIR, which include: facilitating ongoing research studies by providing a daily point of contact for techs and project coordinators; enforcing all CCIR policies/practices; and, resolving daily operational conflicts/issues, as needed.
- Review ongoing operations, policies & protocols; recommend changes and implement new ones when needed to improve operating efficiencies
- Work closely with the Physician Directors and prepare reports, clinical policies/protocols, training materials, data forms, and SOP manuals; prepare problem sheets as unresolved problems arise.
- Evaluate the technical feasibility/do-ability of research proposals within the CCIR; report these findings to the Executive Committee; and, act on any recommendations provided by the Executive Committee.
- Ensure accreditation and compliance is met for federal, biohazard, radiation, and regulatory guidelines.
- Develop and foster a strong sense of community among the CCIR staff and facility users by: maintaining strong communications; promptly disseminating key operational changes; and, ensuring research study results are promptly and accurately disseminated.
- Maintain and review records to prepare financial and other operational reports for the Executive Committee and Physician Directors; disseminate this information as requested.
- Develop, maintain and improve internal CCIR programs for education, websites, newsletters, and quality control.
- Serve as the clinical oversight body for daily CCIR activities.
- Define, approve and support the clinical policies for the CCIR.
- Work directly with and help mentor the CCIR staff, as needed, to resolve any clinical issues and concerns that may arise during operations.
- Meet with the Executive Committee periodically to review CCIR’s progress, including clients/utilization, policy/protocol/IRB adherence, and questionable operational/trial design requests.
- Build a sense of community at WUSM to promote utilization of the CCIR resources.
- Help define, review and approve strategic plans and policies for the CCIR.
- Serve as a sounding board for the implementation of strategy and policy changes.
- Evaluate major CCIR policy changes and expansion needs.
- Identify and promote outreach opportunities to help support/fund research in the CCIR.
- Provide guidance and focus on current issues at the frontiers of imaging science to help recommend future directions and developments in clinical imaging research.
- Serve as technology advisory group to recommend strategic directions in imaging sciences.
- Help build and foster smooth working relationships between WUSM and external partners to identify additional opportunities in clinical research trials that utilize imaging.
- Assist in identifying and refining other potential services and research activities of the CCIR.
- Give a seminar/contribute to WUSM symposia to identify and review the current state of the art, latest developments and future opportunities in the biomedical imaging sciences.
- Provide insights/guidance towards the development of the Center for Biological Imaging (CBI).
